hey! after some time of reading this forum, I am very glad that now, finally, I am a member of this community (thanks to narciszu), especially because here knowledge is the first priority and thus its the only one that matters, I hope I will learn a lot from you, thanks again for keeping this great atmosphere

Sorry for this offtopic but I have a free time and surfing the forum I have seen that the next JAnuary, JMI will be TEN YEARS OLD at this forum.
10 years showing the way to make usefull posts, deleting others :p, and putting out fires in hot posts :D.

I still remember your first words for me when I start... words that are not to reproduce here :D and I probably deserved. Probably no, SURE!!

Maybe we can make a party or send a gift to him (a watch in reversing order):)

To all that are new here, JMI has been the SOUL of this aventure, the boss, the owner of the rudder, and the head of the winds. I specially miss its posts, with the RIGHT ACID sense, THE RIGHT, no more no less, and his patiente.

My friend, a lot of years at your side has been a pleasure, and like you are young :D:D:D:D:D then next will be a treasure.

We want to continue this tradition and bring the forum on a new era. The young blood is coming and for sure it will keep the forum alive for a long time from now on.

I remember the forum on the eary years (on the 2000'th year) when i registered for the first time. The same emotins like today. The spirit of the forum is the same. Now and then

Now is more difficult to stay on top with a reversing forum. All people wants, direct links of progs, send a request prog and get the cracked vers., etc...
Now nobody wants read papers, make math, spend hours with garbage code, etc... Wants direct links.
I know that young blood that are here is a push for the forum. ahmadmansoor is working hard and making a good job in that difficult days.

A more commercial strategy can be a good idea, put all our work in a great reverse project, or crack something that had time uncrackeable, ... trying to put our name in the way again with a big project and without loosing our esence, sell us to the devil for one day :o.
For example, unpack new themida can be good for us but not for commercial interest, not for EVERYBODY, that is very "technical", do you know what I say? I know that way is our spirit but for one day, we must have our 10 min. on TV. I'm speaking to make a commercial project, to make us visible. I have no ideas but for example a cracking commercial binaries releases with the sign of exetools, a new device cracking (Android, IOs,etc...). It is only a brainstorm :D.

Yes Thaos. You're right. I have beeen received many requests on PM to decrypt VFP programs. Many of them i have decrypted, many no because the lack of time. The protection scheme have been various with diferrent protection schemes, packers or cryptors. When a VFP program is decrypted the reversing process is a pice of cake with th original source code in front of you. You can load the exe into Refox and get the original source code. Make the required changes and recmpile. Many of the requests are not satisfied because the person who requested to unprotect the exe are not content with the file unprotected but wanted a working crack or keygen made by me. My purpose is not to make cracks for random progs but to teach a person to "fish", to earn his "food". So.... Nobody now wants to put the head to work. Many of the persons who i assisted not even say thanks. The young generation have to work and learn. The expertise comes from experience not from easy requests of cracks or keygens.

It's always easier if one gets "a free lunch" rather than having to work to "earn" the cost of the food. ;)

While I have been around here for a long time, I have mostly been too busy doing real world work to do more that administer these forums as best as I can. It is somewhat easier than it might otherwise seem dealing with individual personalities because I actually have children who are at least as old as most of the posters on this Forum. I learned a long time ago how the young think about such things and was actually young, myself, once, even longer ago.

It is quite likely that I am actually older than most of the parents of the members here. :eek: But, as they say, getting older is much better than the alternative. Not getting older means one is no longer living.

It is true that we have some who come here who don't want to do any work and want "instant gratification." But it is the journey of discovery in reverse engineering which makes the trip worth while. I just wish I had more time to actually spend more time actually doing it.

I appreciate the invite as well. I'm eager to learn, and have taken it upon myself to do the Lena tutorials, and have built up a pretty large collection of tools, ebooks on the topic, and quick guides. I'm a fast learner and am eager to participate in the forums, and hopefully gain enough skills to become one who can release projects. I've used two names in the past, this one and another which is Darknight. I did the virii scene in the 80's and early 90's, not as a writer or releaser, but as reverse engineering for personal interest.

Wow 180 days since I said anything in here. Really must try harder =)
I thought I had better post a message to try and keep my hand in, and not have my account tossed out for staying silent.

Got a new job a while ago and have had no time to do any fun stuff. Unfortunately I haven't got anything interesting to start a thread about, so I thought a little message to say thanks for not deleting my account, and for keeping the site up and around.

Recently been feeling the urge again to get stuck back into the never ending fight that is gaining knowledge.

Anyway big hello to everyone, and especially to Ahmadmansoor and the mods around here for not kicking my ass out. Keep fighting the good fight.

Glad to see your continued success. I was around when this site had no forum, in its initial founding. You would remember me if I revealed myself, I suppose. I'm not trying to hide such, so will if you don't know already. Of course, I assume the site hasn't changed ownership over the decade or so I'm talking about.
