Is there prog like HIEW in Windows??

Hi..

is there any program like HIEW but work in Windows Not DOS??:)

koncool 07-22-2003 19:12

Hex Workshop, Hackman, etc. Try google with "HEX EDITOR WINDOWS 32".

volodya 07-22-2003 22:27

hiew32 works as a console app on ANY Windows, including XP and 2003.

wasm.ru contains all other editors as well.

Cheema Dev 07-23-2003 01:31

To complete Volodya's reply...
Wasm contains all sort of Hexeditors which are freeware
or includes Sno/keygen for shareware ... Except Hiew ...which is Demo one..;)
Hi Volodya...;)
With regards,

volodya 07-23-2003 01:36

Glad to see you, Cheema Dev :)

For sure, I never ever put working HIEW on wasm.

Cheema Dev 07-23-2003 18:14

Hiew is one of the software which must be regarded.....
My view.....;)

BTW thanks volodya for keeping Wasm updated.

Cheema Dev

Cheema Dev, I need some clarifications as to the VBDown ftp. I read your replies as to the ERD 2003. But I don't know the location of VBDown ftp. Mail to [email protected] with the explanations.

Thanks, man.

Hex Workshop, Hackman, etc. Try google with "HEX EDITOR WINDOWS 32".
Is it can edit assembley code (JE,JNE,NOP,JUMP,....) Like Hiew???

Squidge 07-28-2003 02:13

Hiew32 is on Wasm's website. It comes with Hiew DOS. Still a dos app, but for Windows.

No, Hex WorkShop, Hackman Etc are not for editing assembly code - only hex.

an0rma1 08-05-2003 01:46

have you checked BIEW ? (look in sourceforge)

Squidge 08-05-2003 01:56

{plug}

If your after something similar to Hiew for the Windows environment, try out my RTA in the software release forum...

{/plug}

StarsInTheSky 01-27-2005 18:35

Sorry for bringing this real old topic up, but I'm putting up my website again, and I had as an example of a good patcher (i.e. for editing hex with asm code) used Squidge's RTA. Now the RTA site is down, and from what I read, it is discontinued. I would like to know what is the best tool for this right now. My aim is to give a good diverse pictures of the tools there are, and as patchers I had bratalarms w32dasm patcher and squidges RTA. I don't know if hiew qualify, it is personally my favourite, but I always write the machine code directly, I don't really know if you can write the asm in it. So squidge, if you read this, and RTA is discontinued, what tool would you recommend? An honor to find you here btw.

Hiew windows

Wolf's Hiew Addon 0.2a adds a nice touch to let you work on it while in window.search for winhiew . I am not sure where i downloaded it

StarsInTheSky 01-28-2005 08:27

thank you I found it at http://www.geocities.com/wolf_hfs/download.html , but I have no idea what its good for?? is it just for launching hiew? in that case I have a much better solution, I have "open with hiew" set as folder option, so all I need is to right click an exe file and choose that.

Kerlingen 01-28-2005 18:28

Yes, this is its only use. Here is the english translation of the german text:

"Launches Hiew just out of Windows and opens the previously defined file for "editing".

StarsInTheSky 01-29-2005 03:33

ok as I mentioned I seek a file patcher that takes asm code and writes apropriate hex. I thought that was an addon for hiew to do that, as hiew already have a disassembler.

if anyone knows any good such patcher, I'd be glad to hear it.. (see earlier post)

Kerlingen 01-29-2005 17:02

@StarsInTheSky:
I don't know if I misunderstood you, but HIEW "takes asm code and writes apropriate hex". When you are editing in disassebler mode, you can press F2 to get a window where you can input ASM code and HIEW will translate it to the correct opcodes. There is no "plugin" needed. I don't even know how someone should implement a "plugin" other than patching HIEW directly.
