Recovering an NTFS partition
I've got a big problem...
My computer hanged up while copying some files to the NTFS partition under Win98 (using NTFSforWin98). Next time I wanted to start Win2k I've got BSOD (INVALID_BOOT_DEVICE). After checking the disk, Win2k came up but the NTFS partition became unreadable. The volume lable is corrupted, too. ChkDsk says: Unable to determine volume version and state. CHKDSK aborted. PartitionMagic 8: bad file record structure. I need help with restoring the data. |
Try GetDataBack for NTFS, hxxp://www.runtime.org
good luck |
try using NTFDSdos to recover files. sometimes this really helps
I thnk you have enabled compression on Ur NTFS. Additionally U can try disk commander from winternals.- supports recovery from ntfs partitions also. one thing is U avoid writing to that partition as far as possible since it may weaken ur chances of recovering. Good luck |
Did U recover Ur partition?
do U have a licence key for NTFSforWin98 version 2. |
Dang this board loads slow today.
Try putting the drive in another computer as slave, and then using File Scavenger on it. -LD |
You can try this.
Boot up Windows 2000 with the CD. Chose "repair installation" Chose Recovery console write "fix boot" write "fix mbr" I cannot garanty these methods. /Harding |
Download a copy of R-Studio FAT, then patch it to accept NTFS file systems (5 minute job). There's also a demo, but it's a lot more difficult to hack as you need to actually generate a lot of code yourself.

I was in the same trouble. NTFS98 hangs computer and after that XP was not able to load.
But i fixed this problem by using ntfschk.exe /f (this file is in directory where NTFS for win98 was installed) |
