Problem with SoftIce 3.1! Help me plz.

Hi All

I'm using SoftIce 3.1 Lite from FTP.
My Hardware is Athlon 2000+, KT133a, Radeon 8500, WinXP+SP1.

I'm using Universal VGA Driver in SI 3.1!

Problem is when I using breakpoint "bpm esp-4" and Press F5 my Windows crashes and reboot :(

Any Ideas Why?

Thanks in Advance!

honestly, i didnt tried this but seems not a good practice. Since, esp is already changing while windows running. Not only your app. Try exact address of esp-4. Please give more detail about your idea to use such breakpoint.

seems that SoftICE can't use BPM on AMD processors.

I always get a crash on my Win98 and Athlon 1700+ if I use BPM.

Do they work on NT/2K/XP? :)

I wouldn't blame AMD strait away...

Ok. I setting in SI "bpint 3".
I'm using Pe Tools by NEOx option Break & Enter with Softice
(open calc.exe(upxed)...) then PE Tools says: set "e eip 60" in softice so I do and after that breakpoint reached and I'm setting "bpm esp-4" and press F5 and PC Reboots :(

Any Ideas How to Exchange "bpm esp-4" to something else?

do you use iceext? if true, try clear bpint3 before any bpm

Does your BPM work at all normally? Does it only crash at this instructions? Try bpm on other addresses, try specifying r/w/rw/x etc... u need experment a bit more...
