New Debug DDK/SDK versions

Hello All,

I am trying figure out which ISO's to upload so I would like to pose the question to the forum members. Please forgive me if this is the incorrect place to post this, as I wasn't really sure after reading the rules.

Also I would like know if anybody here know how to break the timebomb for the 64 bit versions as well. The procedure I use to break the timebomb for 32 bit versions does not work for the 64 Bit versions (Windows complains of a corrupted file SETUPREG.HIV.)

I have the RC1 releases for Windows 2003 SP1 for the following CPU's..

(A) AMD 64 Bit (also Windows XP SP1)
(B) Intel 64 Bit
(C) AMD/Intel 32 bit.
(D) DDK/SDK for the above as well.

Here is a list..

Hello All,

Since I have yet to get a response from the members here, I have uploaded the SDK and I am in the process of uploading the DDK. The upload should be completed sometime today..

Hello ntwizard!
I've asked some my friend to tell me, but haven't got answer, what is the difference betwin "Checked" and simple versions of Symbols for OS?

Kerlingen 01-19-2005 21:54

@Sky:

"Checked" symbols can only be used on a "checked" OS. A "checked" OS version is more fault tolerant than the "free" versions. This is done by stack checking, by using the EBP stack frame to access parameters in all APIs and some other stuff. This makes the OS a bit slower (it is said that it's 5% slower), but helps you with application and driver development a lot since you can easily locate errors. The "checked" Windows builds are only available for MSDN subscribers and only in English. You need special service packs, updates and debug symbols for them, since all code and data is located at different memory locations.

Even if you are a cracker and use a debugger frequently, you still don't need a "checked" build of you OS, since it helps you not or only a bit, depending from what you want to do.

Hello,

I used it when I worked at Intel to help find memory leaks, bad code and finally to optimize my application. This was also good in helping us debug the hardware/software device drivers..

Also I have now finished the upload of the SDK and DDK. Does anyone want me to uplaod any of the other Windows XP/2003 versions? :)

Cobi 01-20-2005 02:24

It would be realy great if you could upload the XP Pro 64 AMD checked (or free) :)

ntwizard 01-20-2005 05:36

OK I'll start uploading it today.. :)

All Done. get it at your leisure. :)
