Nice one!

Let's see if we have a "test" version around soon to see their improvements :D

'Five new commands: FILTER, DEVNODE, BPLOAD, PTR, IOCTL '

Is there any info available yet on what these new commands are about?

Btw, let's hope they did some compatibility fixes to SICE as well...

Thanks for informing us,
Pyrae

Just want to know the compatibility of SoftICE with XP SP2 and Win2003. Hope it's stable.

bart 02-03-2005 05:54

softice from ds 3.1 works pretty good under the SP2, but it doesnt work on the XP 32bit + SP2 and XP 64bit :)

but there are always other tools, like windbg ;), olly

peleon 02-03-2005 07:09

Yes, there are always other debugging tools though most of us are quite immersed in Softice to accept other debuggers :) And if you want to debug from kernel, Softice is almost the only solution (at least you have two computers to remotelly debug with Windbg...not easy for a poor guy like me :))

I also have problems with SP2. I guess that they have paid more attention to those WinXP incompatibilities in this new release.

Regards.

I have a problem with SoftICE 4.3 in WinXP SP2 & Win2003. In some CPUs and some VGA cards, I don't have Graphic interface just black screen  . I hope we won't face this bug in this version.

Crk:

While the discussion in this Thread does mention Softice 4.3, that is not a valid excuse for posting a "Request" in the "General Discussion" Forum, where such things are prohibited.

However, since you are a VIP Member ;) , I'm going to cut you some slack, but please keep this in mind for future postings and recognize the "wrong impression" it gives others, that such "Requests" would be tolerated in this Section of the Board.

I've just checked, and you will find

"Compuware.Softice.4.3.1.Lite_uploaded_by_deadalien"

in the /pub/[Cracking]/[NuMega]/ folder. :D

Bad searching, Bad. :D

Hi,

I;m not a "Softice version" fanatic for "Lite" releases :) Can anyone tell me which Softice versions correspond to Driver Studio 3.0, 3.1 and the new 3.2?

Thanks.

There is a way, how to use softice from ds 3.1 with XP32+SP2 and AMD64/IL64 CPU.
For this reason you have to edit boot.ini and change: noexecute=optin
to: noexecute=alwaysoff.
This modification will disables Physical Address Extension (PAE) and the softice can start.
