Patch-Creation Question
 

Hello, I just recently cracked Super Pool v1.7 (hxxp://www.gamehouse.com).
It's original executable is packed with Asprotect.
How can I create a patch for it since the original is packed? I get a "Filesize is different" error in dUP.

Also has anyone ever submitted their cracks to crack sitse? Or is any one here from a group?
I'm wondering in what way your supposed to submit them (IE Rar or zip, file_id.diz, %name%.nfo, etc...)

The "normal" way would be creating a package which includes the original application installer and the cracked .exe file, this is done to prevent minor version changes between the installer you did download and the 1 which is on the website if they discover someone did release a crack for their app.

Most of the time the files are packed 1st with winrar and afterwards zipped, i dunnow the reason for this anymore i have to look that 1 up but i find it very annoying myself this double packing.

If the "release" is only for crack websites they only put the cracked .exe file on their website in a .zip format.

You can use Abel loader generator 2.30 with 100% success rate on ASPR targets.
It includes a simple installer for your crack release.

Do a serch in this forum itself for downloading it.

Try it on ASPR 1.31 or 2.00, and you will see it will fail. ;)

RAR inside ZIP
 

'double packing' used to correctly download RAR archives, coz some servers send RAR archive in text mode instead of binary mode. with zip archive there is no such troubles - all servers send them in correct mode. workaround is to create RAR archive with max compression and to pack (store) it inside zip.
so, you have correct archive in any case (even when rar isn't supported[configured] by the server)

How did you unpack your target?

there are 3 usual ways for cracked files:

1. Cracked exe
2. Inline patch
3. Loader

I dislike loaders (many reasons) and never use them
If you can create inline patch for ASProtect (defeat protection at runtime, then patch app code) - try it
but in any case, if you cracked ASProtected app, you unpacked it first. so, if it runs and works ok - release cracked exe (in most cases it's better then 2 previous ways)
but remember: deep test is required! do not release untested files. be sure that you fixed all. try to load exe on various OS - sometimes unpacked file wont run on specific (or common) different from your own

"double packing" is used because its the scene standard, RAR/ACE/etc. Files zipped with NFO and DIZ with a 8.3 Zipfile name thats the way the rules started when the rip scene first formed and they never really changed. Any scene group will pack its releases like that, although some web lamers will than extract it or repack it...

Where to know more 'bout inline patching.

I'ven't tried it on ASPR yet.Only on ASpack and UPX....
