get rid of the need of windowsupdate:

go www.autopatcher.com and fetch the new Autopatcher.

It contains the normal windowsupdates, many tools and lots of nice regeistrytweaks

Give it a try, you'll like it

In this way you can install WinXP, install Autopatcher and have no need to run windowsupdate and avoid going online with a possibly risk of known flaws ^^

you also save time if u need to get many computers uptodate, cause you can save the autopatcher to a CD and go from computer to computer doing the updateprogress automated.

I'm using a slipstreamed XP-CD with SP2 integrated (a comfortable slipstreamer for integrating ServicePacks to existing WindowsinstallCDs is also avialable), let Autopatcher do his work an have a fully uptodate Windows, which contains less risks in going online.

Clearly you need a AV, Firewall etz. but anyway you save many time!
