Yes, there are always other debugging tools though most of us are quite immersed in Softice to accept other debuggers
And if you want to debug from kernel, Softice is almost the only solution (at least you have two computers to remotelly debug with Windbg...not easy for a poor guy like me
)
I also have problems with SP2. I guess that they have paid more attention to those WinXP incompatibilities in this new release.
