Wait, so you just copied the program files from the already registered version on your VM to your main system?

The registry would be a good place to check, or maybe the software puts license files in the users home directory or some other arbitrary place on your disk. It's hard to give you much more than a bunch of speculation without more details.

Why can't you just reuse whatever installation/registration method you used on your VM?
