Hello guys, I'm just beginner tweaker and I stumbled upon unpacking problem I was unable to handle myself. I wanted to tweak some of program aspect (ResHacker and stuff) and for that, one need the program to be depacked and that looks like a problem in case of old good ACDSee 3.0
![]() First ResHacker refused to allow me to tweak the file, because it is packed. So then I have to find out what exe packer is used, and my best bet is the Aspack. At least the latest AspackDie 1.3d allow me to uncompress the file (reporting sucess, compressor to be "Aspack 2.11c/d), so one can look into it using the ResHacker and tweak the wanted things. However even w/o any modifications, the executable don't run anymore! Jeeez... http://i232.photobucket.com/albums/ee193/trodas_cr/ACDsee_unpacking.gif (in english it says that the proper inicialization of application did not succeed, OK to terminate it) So I thought I ask the autor about the AspackDie 1.3d - he mentioned in ReadMe (HA! someone did actually read the ReadMe!) that if a program won't run after depacking, we should send it to him... But ooops, email [email protected] is no longer in existence... Damn. So, that bring me here to ask, what should I do to / which program is best or better to use for unpacking of the Aspack 2.11 c/d - as the AspackDie 1.3d did not seems to produce executable file. |

Update
http://myweb.tiscali.co.uk/reverseengineering/html/aspackdie.html Found something that looks like Aspack Die 1.41, but it produced the very same result. Expanding the file from 657 920 bytes to 1 507 328 bytes, but still the same error when I try start the unpacked file... ![]() This is weird a bit. |
