Can I edit my posts?
At the button of the page, my permissions show as follows:
You may post new threads You may post replies You may post attachments You may edit your posts However, reality tells me other ways I am unable to edit my first post. Perhaps all I can do is edit posts initiated by me but I cannot edit my responses to a post initiated by another member. Correct? Regards Last edited by Celta68; 12-04-2009 at 01:59. |

Maybe JMI disabled it?
Just do not want people to delete their thread and post, I think. |

This is a bug which I have reported several times before and JMI commented on. If you search back I am sure you will find the threads. The Edit button is there for a short period after posting, then disappears.

In fact you can edit post while no-one readed it, i guess, because some times i forgot to put the pass of the rar and can edit normally, but when someone read the post the button dissapear

sometimes I want to correct my post from errors which didn't catch my eyes for the first minute, or I just want to change my previous post about a new program version so there wouldn't be any dupe thread/post just because a minor version update (believe me, I'm not a post-count hunger ), etc... but I can't.

Actually the settings in the AdminCP are that you have 15 minutes from the original posting to review and edit your own post. That certainly seems a reasonable amount to actually read/review your own post and edit any errors or make additions.
All that means is that you should ACTUALLY READ WHAT YOU POST AFTER YOU HIT THE SAVE BUTTON. IF YOU SEE A MISTAKE, OR FORGOT TO SAY SOMETHING AND WANT TO ADD TO WHAT YOU WROTE, THEN YOU CAN STILL EDIT/CHANGE IT FOR 15 MINUTES. If you want to add additional information, or correct something you said after that time, you can always post a new post with the correction or additional information! If the consensus of the group is that more time is desirable, that time can be increased somewhat, but some limit is clearly reasonable because if posters can always go back and edit their posts, no one will know that they actually have been edited. During whatever timelimit is set, the post will contain a notetation which states: "Last Edited by" and identify who edited it, either the original poster's username, or the moderator or administrator who edited it. Regards,

Thank you all, I was not sure if it was setup intentionally by the Administrator or a bug.

thanks for the complete information as always JMI. according to your "If the consensus of the group is that more time is desirable, that time can be increased somewhat, but some limit is clearly reasonable..." I think most of people here unanimously want that time to be extended. the number of replies to this thread in a short time clearly shows that. anyway, we can run a poll
