'Five new commands: FILTER, DEVNODE, BPLOAD, PTR, IOCTL '
Is there any info available yet on what these new commands are about? Btw, let's hope they did some compatibility fixes to SICE as well... Thanks for informing us, Pyrae |

Yes, there are always other debugging tools though most of us are quite immersed in Softice to accept other debuggers
And if you want to debug from kernel, Softice is almost the only solution (at least you have two computers to remotelly debug with Windbg...not easy for a poor guy like me )I also have problems with SP2. I guess that they have paid more attention to those WinXP incompatibilities in this new release. Regards. |

There is a way, how to use softice from ds 3.1 with XP32+SP2 and AMD64/IL64 CPU.
For this reason you have to edit boot.ini and change: noexecute=optin to: noexecute=alwaysoff. This modification will disables Physical Address Extension (PAE) and the softice can start. |

panzer22... guy, I really, really, really love you! You just made my life more bright, you enlightened it more than you can imagine, and if you were a pretty girl (there is no evidence you aren't, but pretty girls usually don't tend to hang around on boards like this), I'd kiss you all over to show you how much I appreciated your post! thanks!!
Now I feel much better behind my computer, I used to feel so weak without the raw power of winice that allows me to debug down to the raw metal![EDIT JMI: People, People, People, use the small button on the far right to Reply without quote, unless the quote is ABSOLUTELY NECESSARY to make the response CLEAR. more about PAE
I read, it is also possible to activate PAE on Win2000+SP4+AMD64.
But with XPSP2, Mirosoft has activated PAE to make windows more secure. It could be, that some other system-tools will not work with WXP+SP2+AMD64, so you have to disable it in boot.ini |

Crk:
While the discussion in this Thread does mention Softice 4.3, that is not a valid excuse for posting a "Request" in the "General Discussion" Forum, where such things are prohibited. However, since you are a VIP Member , I'm going to cut you some slack, but please keep this in mind for future postings and recognize the "wrong impression" it gives others, that such "Requests" would be tolerated in this Section of the Board.Regards,
