Good App to kill Spyware

I have found a really good application that will go through the registry for those of you that have trouble with mass popups and redirection problems. The prog is called Hijackthis. You can get it from the following link.

While you're on the topic, Spybot S&D is pretty good too. It has an Immunize function that prevents some of the junk from arriving in the first place.

i wouldnt say that hijack this is a great application to kill spyware. but its a nice app to see what runs on your computer, what starts up with windows, whats installed in windir/system32/ etc. it cant remove anything by it self.

I found Ad-Aware not bad for searching and killing spyware and Spyblaster is a nice app that will setup explorer to dissallow all kinds of junk. Usually a combination of a couple of apps seem to be the best solution.

I use both, Spybot S&D and AdWatch. Together they are good against most spyware, especially the Immunisation of SS&D is great. Still there is some spyware, ma virusscanner finds once in a while...

i am using first rootkit detector to check if ther are hidden services ..etc
then SpybotSD and AdAware ... for check on Autostarts i use Winternals Autorun. With that you can see all System-Startups and you can hide the M$
Progs from the list.

The best spykiller I have found is Webroot's Spysweeper.
It doesn't catch all of it but it catches more than most is updated extremely frequently and when used with adaware it stops near all of it!

I agree with the multi program approach. I use AdAware, SpySweeper, and PestPatrol and find that I am covered very well with those 3, but not with any 2 of them.

SpywareBlaster: http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload.html

It gets updated regularly and prevents malicious ActiveX controls from ever being installed.

Well, this kind of software (unnecessary crap deleted by JMI) is absolutely annoying.
It makes surfing difficult and slows down your system dramatically.

So use Brain v1.00 instead of that software crap!

[EDIT:JMI: READ MY MESSAGE BELOW]

(More unnecessary crap deleted by JMI)

I fix computers for a living and use SpywareBlaster because I can run it on a customer's computer and save them potential grief in the future. It doesn't require any resident program or impact system performance. You don't even need to install it on a computer to run it, as it normally resides on my USB watch along with an assortment of other diagnostic and repair programs.

It sits on my little 256MB flash drive along with HijackThis and 35 other programs you would probably consider useless. (Even MORE crap deleted by JMI) [People probably not running] any antivirus or firewall program [use] "Brain v1.00" [because it] protects you from those 0 day threats that use unpatched OS exploits.

[EDIT JMI: Knock this flaming B.S. OFF or BOTH of you will be GONE. NO FURTHER WARNING TO EITHER OF YOU.]
