Connecting with the fantastic minds

Folks,

I know many of us have been in the scene since early days. But deliberately and by design, we chose to adopt a pseudonym to hang out with, publish or support each other through forums like this.

Along the process we have lost many great minds / personalities who have given a lot of their time in shaping up the industry and in teaching / helping / or just being there all the time.

I have been thinking about this for a really long time and I used to roam around a lot under various pseudonyms, but have reduced a lot. Main reason, age catching up and priorities change. But one thing which hasn't stopped is learning. Life goes on with various struggles and what not! It's a common thing amongst all living humans.

The most important that matters is "time" and that's all!

And the main reason behind this post is to see if we could probably get to know each other a bit. Nothing else. No other motive or need. It's the feel one gets to know that there is a real person on the other end who can do wonders is a comforting factor who can be reached out for learning or doing somethings is a feel only we can understand. I know how much everyone has contributed and still continue to do so!

I just wanted to see if there is a place for us to connect personally (by all means virtually as I know most of us except for a few are from different countries and time zones) to get to know more about and to remember that a real person existed with whatever knowledge who could be depended on or can be reached out.

I do not want any to reveal any personal info or anything, but just a way to get connected and share somethings. Anything done on the forum gets picked up by search engines and gets archived. More like a DM or private messaging on the forum, but for some reason, I'm seeing the all the old messages exchanged between people are gone and not sure even if it is working or got removed (please excuse for being so naive!). So, I'm not sure how to DM or even message to connect with people and share info inside the site.

Let me know your thoughts on this. No action necessary, but if you could write a line or two, it'll be nice. Thanks for reading and have a good day everyone!

I agree—needs evolve over time. In the past, there was both the desire and the need to stay behind a nickname; nowadays, sometimes it feels necessary to step out with your real name just to stand out from the crowd of people claiming they “know their stuff.”

The idea of finding a way to connect privately is nice. I’m not sure what the best approach would be—maybe a subforum to share LinkedIn contacts, or even going back to something like IRC for quicker interactions. Hard to say, it probably depends on everyone’s different needs, but it’s definitely an interesting idea.

Just express it! Thinking about it is fine, but take the first step - reply a word or two! Whatever it could be. It's our spirit.
