It is strange that you don't realize that this IS the bug-fixes you've been waiting for! Take a look at this list to see what are these fixes: http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;811113
(I could count 818 bugfixes listed and some of the are cumulative fixes: i.e. more than one patch in the package). Do you realize that this is the Service Pack 2, which is a cumulative, huge set of bug-fixes over the previous Service Pack (SP1a, actually)?
The things that holds some people back from installing SP2 is some possible incompatibilities with SHITTY programs (like some protection systems) that would like to do some strange things like executing code in stack which truely should be avioded. In my opinion it is plain wrong to not to install SP2 for such tiny reason (and guess what, those programs have no choice but to get updated anyway) against the huge security improvements SP2 can potentially have.
Personally, I have installed SP2 and all of the programs installed on my computer are working with NO problem at all, and I tell, I have hundreds of programs installed... (And no, I don't do SoftICE on my XP machine: I have a separate, old Win2K machine with full DriverStudio for that purpose).
So, what are you waiting for before installing SP2? Bug fixes for SP2? You mean SP3?? This whole thing has happened before, when SP1 was releazed and now is just being repeated again...
