Not always. Sometimes I fix some bugs from SW-authors. Really.

I think, do it step-by-step is a more right way. Do first step (crack)
and get first result - worked proggy. Well, now known - it's possible ! Good time to do next step.

Also, you learn more from doing a keygen than doing a crack; meaning if you can keygen an app, you can crack it very easily if need be. But keygenning definately provides more knowledge.
