my pc dont crash as often now after SP2 but the network activity is too much...i have Zone alarm ...even if i engage lock in Zone alarm my cable modem is showing activity...

cable modems always show activity, you aren't just on your own segment you know, with a cable modem. Only DSL give you a true IP of your own.
