Everyone goes on about damage Microsoft, but where would we be without Mr Gates and his "BIG" company.
The real rip off merchant is datarescue, if he dropped his prices I am sure he would reap his rewards!

Have you
ever actually used IDA Pro? It is worth every last penny given the power it wields. The code is developed in Beligum, thus the monetary system is Euro, but it is sold in US Dollars, thus THEY LOSE MONEY ON EVERY SALE. Now, look at Softice, etc, IDA Pros latest version include a debugger that will most likely blow Softice and the like out of the water in not too long a span of time.
If you choose to sling garbage at a company that supports its products better than anyone out there, then go ahead, but DO NOT knock what you've not used.
Example: I have, on occasion, caused IDA to crash internally. I took a screen shot of the crash information, and a little summary, fired an email off to Datarescue support and received an answer back within a day worse case.
Try that with Microsoft. Try that with NuMega. Try that with ANYONE.
The price is fair, you just have no idea what you are paying for. If you are using a cracked copy, then you are part of the very reason the prices are so high. They're not Microsoft they cannot afford to deal with those that refuse to pay their fair share.
