How WinXP generates Activation Serials?

hello,
I was searching on google how WinXP generates activation number, but the only things come out are keygen and serial, no documentation about how they're generated, anyone can provide me such information? what are the difference between Home and Professional edition in that contest? thanks

I am not sure if this is what you're looking for, but I have attached a document describing the algorithm(s) for MS CD-Keys.

I do not know who the author of this document is, but it sure is interesting reading.

Pure genius...although there are easier ways...this is certaintly a very "comprehsnive" approach to it.

I'm curious what changes, if any, Longhorn will add to WPA...

Oh, I might add that a working keygen for WinXP Pro, WinXP Pro VLK, Win2k3 VLK, and Office XP accompanied the document I posted above. So it's not all just theory -- it has verifiably been put into practice.

exactly what i was thinking when i read the document.
it seems the document is incomplete, since the discussion stopped abruptly.
any chance you still have the complete "unmodified" version?

No, I'm sorry, that is the complete document that came with the keygen I downloaded.

The keygen is named similarly to the document I posted, so maybe if one were able to find another copy of that keygen, it would have the full version of the document packaged with it?

OK people:

Let's NOT do anything desparate, like putting "MSKey4in1.rar" (without the quotes) into you OWN search engine and actually looking for the software YOURSELVES.

As one source said:

If you wanna play with MSKey, look for MSKey4in1.rar, there are two versions, one with the executable (and possibly the NFOs) and one with the executable plus the instructions used to crack the key system (and possibly the NFOs).

But, NO. That would be actually learning how to SEARCH.

Regards,

On to the subject...
I searched a bit and this is what i found:

Most links to mskey4in1.rar are broken...

Only one(that i could) found working is: hxxp://www.flex.vikamcom.com/fex/50614-mskey4in1.rar
and that one only have executable in it...

This one have a password on it and imho it's not what we(i am) are looking for(but with similar size):
hxxp://www.flex.vikamcom.com/fex/windowskeygen2003.rar

So, in the end... All needed files was found on eMule. But again, half hour later that files are gone...

so in the spirit of sharing here it is
MSKey4in1.exe
MSKey4in1.txt
MSKey4in1 Read Me.doc
how to change your key.txt

Good for you.

That's the same place I found it.

There is also something called "Keyfinder v1.41" or "Magic Jelly Bean Keyfinder v1.41" which will allow you to view and change your windows and/or office serial number.

There is another program called RockXP 3.0 which will:
- Retrieve your XP Product Key.
- Change your XP Product Key & generate a new product ID.
- Save your activation file...etc.
- Info on your machine like build and computer name

These products are often bundled with the mskey4in1.rar and another product, called Windows XP .NET 2003 Key Changer, in a package with the name "Windows XP / 2003 Product Key Viewer / Generator / Changer." This package is generally found on crack sites with some restrictions on downloading, but there are edonkey and share connection listings for the bundle.

Once again simply demonstrating that most things are available on the net with a little searching effort.

Regards,

hi JMI, i don't mean to piss you off or anything,
but does this mean that if i have found additional resources for the topic at hand, i'll just suggest everyone to search for it themselves, inform them that i have something extra, but others will need to find that for themselves if they want to have it, to develop their "search skills".

i'm not trying to leech off somebody's effort, but in the spirit of knowledge sharing, is this a positive way to go about it?

i don't think we always need to be reminded of simple things and be treated like children all the time. just some constructive criticism.

tAz:

I don't mind criticism, constructive or otherwise. The initial point of the question was the location of the MSKey4in1.exe which was both "located" and "attached" to babar0ga's post. The additional items were ones that I had found searching, and therefore knew were available with simple searching.

There is a "Magic Jelly Bean" site and I found many locations for the "Keyfinder v1.41," including the developers own site. The "RockXP 3.0" file was also easy to find in multiple places for free. The only one which seemed more problematical was the "Windows XP .NET 2003 Key Changer." I reported that it could be found under the name of "Windows XP / 2003 Product Key Viewer / Generator / Changer." I "knew" these things because I had just finished searching for them myself.

Now some constructive criticism back. Just how lazy do you want to be? In each instance I gave you the "specific" identification of the file for your search engine which I knew you could use to actually find them with little or no effort, by simply copying and pasting them into YOUR search engine.

Should I have saved you even that very minimal effort by attaching them here so you wouldn't have to make ANY effort on your own? I don't think that is actually helpful. With the proper search criteria, all these files are all over the net.

I didn't bother downloading the "Windows XP / 2003 Product Key Viewer / Generator / Changer" file, because I didn't feel like using edonkey or share connection and didn't want to deal with the crack site B.S., but again I knew anyone would get multiple hits for download of that target using the title I posted.

I did not simply say: "There are other programs out there you can find if you search." I am not "treating" you like children. I am treating you like people who can learn how to do these things for themselves, given a little guidance. I gave more than "a little guidance."

Although it is always easier if someone just gives you the answer, it actually teaches you very little. Real learning requires learing how to think for one's self and how to find answers. Teaching how to do that is much more helpful in the long run.

Do with the information as you will.

Regards,

i don't want to make this long, but i think we both understand each other.

although what you said about learning how to find things for yourself is important in the long run, sometimes, it's still good to share something even though others can find it with google's "i'm feeling lucky" instead of letting them search all over again, and search for it all over again.

sometimes, making them search is good, but other times, sharing the information without any catches is good specially for information sharing.

thanks for your time.

WinXP VLK Key boundary limits

mmmhh Well as this topic started about WinXP and it's keys, I hope this post isn't out of place.

The Keygen authors' readme was indeed very intertesting . I did notice that he place VLK limits (for the 640 series which of course IS VLK) between 500 and 600.

I did some checking at work and none of the VLK keys (purchased as recently as last week) are within that range. Mine ( from 3 weeks ago) is around 800000(X) ( not including the last number (X) which I'm assuming is some sort of chcksum) . I wonder what's going to happen to all those "invalid" but legit purchased keys when SP2 arrives ? After reading that SP2 will be more of WINXP SE and it will "break" lots of app's currently out there, I think I'm going to stay away from SP2 for atleast a couple of months after it's release. I don't feel like being a guineapig.

just my 2c

Cheers
